Love this line: “It’s as if Deloitte’s trying to schedule the sunrise when we haven’t finished reckoned with the dark of the night.” Accurate in so many ways right now. Feels like so many of us are processing collective ambiguous grief in this moment.

Oops and just fixed the typo. :) Thanks, Em. I was listening to Donella Meadows' *Thinking In Systems* the other day, and especially the part about how large and old systems resist change on their own ... it'll take an outside force to demand it, or else new models will replace the old ones, free from baggage. Both are happening ... and there's lots of resistance too.

A lot of us assumed Covid would be the big shake up. It did change some stuff in impressive ways, too. It proved to me that it can happen. Except we've snapped back like a rubber band.

I used to argue with JP about whether administrators were moral people or not. I defended them. (I was one too, I should note, at the time.) I don't know if morality is the measuring stick ... perhaps. But resisting to take responsibility--a more honest inventory of what we've collectively built--is something that I believe needs to be interrogated. I wish it were safer to do that. My goal is to make it safer, or at least gather together those who need support in their own process.
